The 7.62x54mmR round is a rimmed rifle ammunition type that is used in the Mosin-Nagant magazine.
History[]
The 7.62x54mmR round was designed for the Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle. When the Russians saw the effectiveness of this new cartridge, they began to use it with different weapons. Some of these included the PKM machine gun and the Dragunov sniper rifle. The 7.62x54mmR round is the oldest rifle round still in service with modern militaries today[1].

The 7.62x54mmR round has a great amount of stopping power. It also generates a lot of recoil when fired. It is also one of the longest range rifle rounds. It has a very high accuracy, even at long ranges. Kills have been recorded from up to 300 studs away.
